Behind the Lens

Hi, I'm Robbie, the founder of Opti8 Axis.

I'm a second-generation licensed optician with over a decade of experience in the optical industry. Since beginning my journey in 2011, I've worked in optical labs, retail environments, and private practices, gaining hands-on experience in the craftsmanship, precision, and patient care that help people see their best every day.

Optical is more than a career to me—it's a trade built on skill, knowledge, and heart. Yet, much of what opticians do happens behind the scenes. Most people only see the finished pair of glasses, not the countless measurements, adjustments, problem-solving, and attention to detail required to make them work perfectly for the person wearing them.

I created Opti8 Axis to celebrate that unseen work.

What started as a passion project has grown into a brand dedicated to honoring the optical profession through apparel, educational resources, and storytelling. Through study guides, optical-inspired products, and community-driven initiatives, my goal is to support students entering the field, encourage experienced professionals, and help the public better understand the important role vision care plays in everyday life.

As a licensed optician, educator, entrepreneur, wife, and mother, I know firsthand the balancing act of pursuing big dreams while staying grounded in service to others. Opti8 Axis is a reflection of that journey—a reminder that precision matters, details matter, and every person behind the lens has a story worth sharing.

This mission continues to expand through Voices of Vision, an upcoming interview series highlighting the diverse professionals who make the world of vision care possible. By sharing their experiences, challenges, and successes, I hope to inspire the next generation and shine a light on a profession that deserves greater recognition.
